"Reflecting Your Ideas"

In the Beginning: Over 2 years (1997-8) in the design and construction, Mirror Sound Studio announced the opening of it’s 5-room facility in Shoreline, WA. The studio offers 4 recording rooms and a large Control room housing complete 24 track music production facilities, full computer  recording and editing capabilities as well as CD mastering. Quality acoustic design including control over internal acoustics, HVAC implementation and room to room isolation was employed during every stage of the building process. Mirror Sound Productions originated in Cherry Hill, NJ, just outside Phila., PA, in 1980. Owner, Ken Fordyce’s experience extends back to Berklee College of Music, Boston Mass.  He majored in guitar while enrolled in the Instrumental Performance Program. Valuable work experience came from his work at Sigma Sound Studios, Queen Village Studios and NFL Films prior to opening his first 4-track operation in 1979. Numerous music projects bolstered Mirror Sound to 8 then 16 and now 24 track. Fordyce, an analog veteran couldn’t be happier with his current 24 Track DAW featuring: RME Digiface (52 channel interface), Samplitude, Sonar and of course Pro-Tools.

Analog signal processing is a must!

Modified Soundcraft Series 600 (Mods done by Audio Designer Jim Williams of Audio Upgrades "sounds better than an SSL")

Telefunken U 47Tube condenser microphone.

Digital

New School Digital: Magix's Samplitude 8 for the PC/XP. Like "Pro Tools" only faster editing, easier, and sounds way better! BTW you can import or export to or from any known DAW, (Pro Tools, Sonar/Cakewalk Audio, Cool Edit, Vegas...etc.)  or Adats. Automation too and Plug-ins galore!

Early Roots

Ken Fordyce's 1st album credit and notable studio experience, recorded at RCA in NYC (home to Al Schmitt, Frank Sinatra and many other greats) in 1977 my job as equipment manager/assistant was to unplug 1 cable in between Side A and Side B while Barry, Terry, John & Vic played some of the sweetest fusion as this was a Direct to Disc recording. Barry agreed with Norman to do the disc in 1 day of setup and 1 day of recording as a return to "old school " recording techniques. For more on this subject see:
